USTC Future Scientist Summer Research Program Overview
FuSEP is more than a program; it’s a global scientific conclave designed to foster collaboration and innovation among the next generation of scientists. Under the theme “Science and Technology toward a Shared Future,” participants will embark on an interdisciplinary journey, exploring cutting-edge research and exchanging ideas to tackle pressing global challenges.
Duration:
- Undergraduates: July 1 – August 25, 2024 (4-8 weeks, with a 4-week minimum)
- Graduates: July 1 – July 30, 2024 (1 month)

Cost of Program and Scholarship Sponsorship
The cost of the 2024 FuSEP Summer Research Program varies by academic level: undergraduates and master’s students pay 2,100 RMB (≈304 USD) per month, while PhD students pay 2,600 RMB (≈377 USD) per month. Accommodation in the international student dormitory ranges from 500 to 1,000 RMB (≈73—146 USD) per month, depending on room type and size, and insurance costs 160 RMB (≈23 USD) per month. After admission, a non-refundable pre-registration fee of 500 RMB (≈73 USD) is required, with the balance due upon arrival.
USTC offers three levels of fellowships to exceptional students: Level A includes a tuition waiver, comprehensive medical insurance, free university dormitory accommodation, and a monthly stipend (2,500 RMB for Bachelor’s, 3,000 RMB for Master’s, and 3,500 RMB for PhD students). Level B offers a tuition waiver, comprehensive medical insurance, and free university dormitory accommodation without a stipend. Level C provides a tuition waiver only, assisting with the basic cost of the program whereas following common benefits will also be given:
- Waiver of tuition and registration fees
- USTC Fellowship for outstanding participants, covering travel, insurance, and accommodation
- Certificate of Participation and Performance Evaluation
- Priority for future degree program applications at USTC
Research Projects Selection

Eligibility Criteria
- Current full-time enrollment at your home institution
- Completion of at least two years of undergraduate studies by Summer 2024 in the relevant field
- A minimum CGPA of ‘B’ or above
- Proficiency in English
